Internal derangement of knee
Common sports injuries
The knee has medial and lateral collateral ligaments, medial and lateral meniscus, anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments.
The medial collateral ligament is the most frequently damaged area, especially in the knee.
It is the most common knee joint injury during sports activities. It is often accompanied by injury to the anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus.
Meniscus Tear of the Knee
Definition
As a meniscus-shaped cartilage plate on the medial and lateral side of the knee joint, it absorbs the impact of the joint and is a structure that is often damaged during sports injuries.
Features
It can be diagnosed by physical examination and MRI.
Treatments
Depending on the severity of the injury, arthroscopic knee surgery can be performed but the prolotherapy may improve providing it is not severe.
Cruciate Ligament Tear
Definition
Two kinds of cruciate ligaments within knee joint between femur and tibia, anterior and posterior.
Features
It is often accompanied by injuries from the sports and by rupture of the collateral ligament and meniscus.
Treatment
As treatments, arthroscopic surgery and prolotherapy are possible.
