  • High protein foods and excessive drinking session

Gout

What are the symptoms?

  1. 01

    Acute gouty arthritis

    how to

Gout is a disease in which uric acid crystals are deposited in the soft tissues around joints due to an increase in uric acid blood level. A common initial symptom is due to 'acute gouty arthritis'.
In most cases, it is most common in the big toe joint, and can also occur in the ankles, foot joint, and knee joints.

  2. 02

    Duration of flare-ups

    how to

Even though you don't usually exercise, your joints suddenly become swollen or hot and painful is a common symptom.
Your pain often goes away within 3 to 10 days but it can occur repeatedly over several weeks or years.
If the recurrence persists, the joints become stiff or chronic.

Gout

How to treat it?

  1. Step 1

Treatment with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and colchicine

During the first treatment, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and colchicine are combined as treatment. After improvement in the acute phase, recurrence may occur.
Therefore, during the asymptomatic period, the blood uric acid concentration has to be lowered and uric acid should be lowered to get rid of the gouty nodule deposition.

  2. Step 2

    Urate-lowering therapy

In the case of chronic progression, it is recommended to perform uric acid lowering therapy immediately.
Allopurinol is prescribed as a treatment of choice, which should be taken until the blood uric acid level is maintained at a normal level.

  3. Step 3

    Surgical treatment

In chronic cases, surgery may be required to get rid of the gouty nodule, but this is rarely the case, and most of them are prescribed medication.
