Plantar fasciitis
Do you feel severe pain during the first few steps as soon as you wake up in the morning?
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It involves inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes.
Plantar fasciitis
What are the symptoms?
The exact cause is not known, but it is known as a microinjury around the attachment of the plantar fascia.
It is known to occur in middle-aged people with obesity, flat foot, or cavus foot.
It can also occur when you go out wearing high heels frequently and stand or run a long time.
It is possible if you have pain when holding your toe and tilting it upwards.
Plantar fasciitis
How to treat it?
1
First of all, put heel cups on your heel.
2
You need constant ankle stretch. If your condition is severe, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug may be prescribed after a plaster bandage.
3
If your condition does not improve, local anaesthetics and steroid injections may be performed but you may abstain from abuse because of the side effects.
4
In chronic cases, extracorporeal shock wave therapy or prolotherapy can be prescribed.
5
If your condition does not improve after 6 months of conservative treatment, you need to consider the surgical treatment but it is rarely the case.
