Facet joint syndrome without pain below the knee

A joint is where two or more bones are joined. The joints in the spine are commonly called Facet Joints.
The pathology of the facet joint is not clearly identified, and it is often diagnosed only with clinical symptoms.
In patients with chronic back pain who have a problem with the facet joint, the importance of the facet joint is often overlooked because it often overlaps with other pathologies.

What are the symptoms?

  • The most typical symptom is pain when extending back.

  • Numbness and tingling in the leg due to disc, or compression of nerve roots may appear in all parts of the leg. But numbness in the leg caused by facet joint syndrome does not appear below the knee.

  • The patients with improved symptoms usually compalin of back and the femoral region

Why does lumbar facet syndrome occur?

  • Aging

    In case of adults over 50 years of age, it may be caused by degenerative spinal changes.

  • Jobs with back pain

    It is caused by excessive use of low back when carrying heavy objects repeatedly for a long time.

  • Excessive excercises

    Repeated and excessive exercises can lead to back injuries.

How to treat it?

  • Medications

    It is effective to take medications with non-surgical treatment such as prolotherapy and neuroplasty.
