Tarsal tunnel syndrome

Tarsal tunnel syndrome

What if the soles of your feet are bruning and the pain is severe when you walk?

The tarsal tunnel is located on the inside of the ankle, and is formed by the ankle bones and the band of ligaments that stretches across the foot.
Tarsal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the posterior tibial nerve as it passes through the tarsal tunnel. Compression of the posterior tibial nerve can cause pain, tingling or numbness in the sole of foot.

Tarsal tunnel syndrome

How to treat it?

  1. Step 1

    Conservative treatment

Since the pressure and tension around the posterior tibial nerve should be relievved, ankle brace, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and anti-epileptic drugs can be used.
If there is no improvement, neuroplasty can be performed.

  2. Step 2

    Neuroplasty

This is a nerve block that is injected into the affected area and it is treated once a week about 1 or 2 times but there are no any side effects, so you don't have to worry about it.

  3. Step 3

    Prolotherapy

This is a treatment for self healing in the human body by injecting it into the affected area and causing inflmmation artificially.
In general, about 3 or 5 times are performed every two weeks.
The pain tends to become more severe for 3 to 5 days after the procedure but it is a course of improvement, so you don't have to worry about.
